Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cans (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1 Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  2. 2 Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  3. 3 Add onions and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. 4 Stir in garlic and tomato paste, cook for 1 minute.
  5. 5 Pour in red wine and simmer until reduced by half.
  6. 6 Add crushed tomatoes, bay leaves, salt, and pepper.
  7. 7 Reduce heat to low and simmer for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.
  8. 8 Stir in milk during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  9. 9 Remove bay leaves and adjust seasoning.
  10. 10 Serve over pasta with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese.
